The Landscape Map & Landscapedia

The compilation of The Landscape Map is in itself a research project, working in the three Landscape Domains: Natural, Cultural and Designed/Desirable. Every Map Point is a research item in itself and an entry in the online Landscape Inventory of the African Landscape. As The Landscape Map is created, so too is the Landscapedia, the Encyclopaedia of Landscape. For now it is confined to Southern or Subequatorial Africa, but will later encompass Sub-Saharan Africa, the Sahel, the Sahara and, finally, all of Africa!
This grand ambition is one of the principle aims of LHSA, namely, to once and for all, put the African Landscape on the Map. The potential benefits of this great work are enormous and will be for the benefit of future generations to know all about the Landscape of Africa. No longer shall this vast and valuable estate be overlooked by politicians, planners and people alike, to be subdivided and conquered by engineers and arbitrary boundaries of no man's understanding. Without a thorough and solid understanding of this great African Landscape, it will always be misunderstood and mismanaged.
